The goal is to ensure the enduring value of the journal's scholarly contributions and to provide sustainable access to its archives for future generations of researchers, scholars, and practitioners.

Scope

This policy applies to all content published in the MJH, including:

  • Articles
  • Reviews
  • Letters to the Editor
  • Supplementary materials
  • Other relevant content

Archiving Strategy

The MJH will employ a hybrid archiving strategy that combines digital preservation and physical storage to ensure the long-term preservation of its content.

  1. Digital Preservation:

    • Format Conversion: All content will be converted into a digital format that is suitable for long-term preservation. This may include PDF, XML, or other appropriate formats.
    • Metadata Creation: Detailed metadata will be associated with each item to facilitate its identification, retrieval, and understanding.
    • Data Migration: Content will be regularly migrated to newer storage technologies to ensure its accessibility.
    • Digital Preservation Repository: The MJH will establish a dedicated digital preservation repository to store its content. This repository will be designed to meet international standards for digital preservation and will be regularly audited to assess its integrity.
  2. Physical Storage:

    • Microfilming: A physical backup of the journal will be created on microfilm to provide a long-term, durable preservation option.
    • Storage Conditions: Microfilm will be stored in a controlled environment that meets international standards for preservation.

Access and Retrieval

  • Online Access: The MJH will provide online access to its archives through its website or a designated digital repository.
  • Open Access: The journal will strive to make its archives openly accessible to promote wider dissemination and impact.
  • Preservation Metadata: Metadata associated with each item will enable users to search, retrieve, and access the content efficiently.
  • Preservation and Access Tools: The MJH will invest in tools and technologies that support long-term preservation and easy access to its archives.

Preservation and Maintenance

  • Regular Monitoring: The MJH will regularly monitor the condition of its digital and physical archives to identify and address any preservation issues.
  • Security: The journal will implement robust security measures to protect its archives from unauthorized access, modification, or loss.
  • Disaster Recovery: A disaster recovery plan will be in place to ensure the continuity of access to the archives in the event of a catastrophic event.

Review and Update

This policy will be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect changes in technology, standards, and best practices in digital preservation.

Collaboration

The MJH will collaborate with other scholarly organizations, libraries, and preservation institutions to share knowledge, re
