Archiving Policy

This policy outlines the procedures for the long-term preservation and accessibility of scholarly content published in the Multidisciplinary Journal of Emerging Needs of Curriculum (MJENC). Its primary goal is to ensure the continued availability of this valuable research to future generations of scholars, educators, and researchers.

Scope

This policy applies to all scholarly content published in MJENC, including articles, reviews, commentaries, and other original research contributions. It does not cover ancillary materials such as supplemental data, software, or multimedia files.

Archiving Strategy

The journal will adopt a dual-deposit strategy to ensure the long-term preservation of its content:

  1. Institutional Repository: All published content will be deposited in a designated institutional repository, ensuring local control over the preservation and access of the journal's intellectual property.
  2. Digital Preservation Service: A trusted digital preservation service will be used to create a redundant copy of the journal's content, providing an off-site backup and additional layer of protection against data loss.

Preservation Requirements

The following preservation requirements will be adhered to:

  • Technical Standards: Content will be preserved in formats that are widely supported and easily accessible, such as PDF/A.
  • Metadata: Rich metadata will be associated with each item, including author information, publication details, keywords, and subject classifications.
  • Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs): Each published item will be assigned a unique DOI to facilitate long-term identification and citation.
  • Access Controls: Access to the journal's content will be managed in accordance with copyright and licensing agreements.

Access Policies

  • Open Access: The journal will strive to make its content freely available to the public through open access policies, whenever possible.
  • Subscription Model: In cases where open access is not feasible, the journal will maintain a subscription model to ensure revenue for ongoing operations and preservation efforts.
  • Perpetual Access: The journal will commit to providing perpetual access to its content, ensuring that it remains available to future generations of researchers.

Review and Updates

This policy will be reviewed and updated regularly to ensure its alignment with evolving standards, technologies, and best practices in digital preservation.

  • Editor-in-Chief: Oversees the implementation of the archiving policy and ensures compliance with preservation requirements.
