Plagiarism Policy

This policy aims to maintain the integrity of the Multidisciplinary Journal of Emerging Needs of Curriculum (MJENC) by preventing plagiarism and ensuring that all published works are original and contribute to the scholarly community.

Definition of Plagiarism: Plagiarism is the act of presenting another person's ideas, words, or work as one's own, without proper attribution. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Copying: Directly copying text from another source without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing: Restating someone else's ideas in your own words without acknowledging the original source.
  • Quoting: Using someone else's exact words without enclosing them in quotation marks and citing the source.
  • Self-plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of one's own previously published work without proper acknowledgment or permission.

Policy Statement: The MJENC strictly prohibits plagiarism in all submitted manuscripts. Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and for providing proper attribution to any sources used.

Consequences of Plagiarism: If plagiarism is detected in a submitted manuscript, the following actions may be taken:

  • Rejection of the manuscript: The manuscript will be rejected for publication.
  • Notification to the author: The author will be notified of the plagiarism and the reasons for rejection.
  • Reporting to the author's institution: In serious cases, the journal may report the plagiarism to the author's institution.
  • Publication of a retraction: If the manuscript has already been published, the journal may publish a retraction statement.

Prevention and Detection: The MJENC will employ various measures to prevent and detect plagiarism, including:

  • Plagiarism detection software: The journal will use reputable plagiarism detection software to screen submitted manuscripts.
  • Peer review process: The peer review process will help identify any potential instances of plagiarism.
  • Author guidelines: The journal will provide clear guidelines to authors on how to avoid plagiarism and cite their sources properly.

Author Responsibilities: Authors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring the originality of their work.
  • Providing proper attribution to any sources used.
  • Adhering to the journal's guidelines on citation and referencing.
  • Reporting any instances of plagiarism that they become aware of.

Additional Considerations:

  • The journal may require authors to submit a statement of originality confirming that the manuscript is their own work and that they have not plagiarized any material.
  • The journal may provide guidance on how to avoid self-plagiarism.
  • The journal may have specific requirements regarding the use of copyrighted material.
