Abstract
Green entrepreneurship, a growing field within sustainable business practices, offers small business owners unique opportunities to promote environmentally responsible solutions while addressing market demands. This study examines how small business owners can develop a sustainable skillset tailored to green entrepreneurship, focusing on practical strategies for integrating eco-friendly practices into core business operations. Key components of this skillset include an understanding of sustainable resource management, innovation in product and service design, and the implementation of environmentally conscious marketing strategies. Additionally, this paper explores the role of sustainability-driven financial planning, which enables entrepreneurs to evaluate long-term benefits and manage the costs associated with green initiatives. Green entrepreneurship requires not only technical knowledge of eco-friendly processes but also an adaptive mindset that embraces continuous learning and responsiveness to evolving environmental standards. Through qualitative analysis of case studies and interviews with small business owners, this paper highlights the barriers and motivators for adopting sustainable practices, including market pressures, regulatory incentives, and consumer expectations. By fostering skills in environmental stewardship and resilience, small businesses can create value for both their companies and communities, positioning themselves as agents of positive change within the larger economy. The findings underscore the need for educational programs and resources that support green entrepreneurship, aiming to empower small business owners to build sustainable ventures that contribute to environmental preservation and social well-being. This research provides insights into the pathways by which small businesses can transition from traditional models to sustainability-centered practices, offering a framework for developing the competencies essential for thriving in a green economy.
